Table D’hôte Menu

Having recently won two AA Rosettes in recognition of culinary excellence, Herbert Restaurant is extremely proud of the achievement of our chefs and all of our staff.  Our Table D’hôte menu is a perfect example of the fantastic food you see each time you visit our restaurant. Here are some of the delicious food and drink options you can expect from this sumptuous 7-course menu:

Castletownbere Scallops & Crab

Castletownbere is a bustling fishing town in Co. Cork and is renowned for providing locally sourced seafood. The Chef has carefully balanced the flavours on the plate to ensure that each of the unique elements shines both on its own and as a part of this elegant dish. The seafood is served on a bed of black rice, with citrusy yuzu, sesame and watercress.

Corn-fed Irish Chicken

As a main course, you have options ranging from a sirloin of beef to confit cod or the vegetarian option, a vegetable stuffed tortellini. One of the most popular courses is our corn-fed Irish chicken served with panisse, charred baby leek, confit garlic & foie gras sauce. This delicious dish has been created by our master chef so that each of the accompanying elements complements the succulent roasted flavour of the chicken.

Lemon, Raspberry & Pistachio Choux

No meal is complete without being followed a dessert fit for Lord of the Manor. One of the Chef's specialities is his signature choux pastry incorporating the fresh summer flavours of lemon and raspberry and complimented by the rich taste of pistachio. The dish is served with a side of lemon and marshmallow gel & pistachio crème fraiche.

Selection of Irish Farm House Cheeses

If a sweet dessert is not your thing, we have a savoury option that is just as delicious. We offer a selection of locally sourced, Irish farmhouse cheeses accompanied by homemade seasonal chutney, frozen and dried grapes and a variety of crackers. This dish is perfect for those who like to take their time after a meal and linger a little longer while enjoying a glass of wine. 

Wine list

The perfect accompaniment to any meal is a full-bodied red or a refreshing white, depending on your menu choices. Our wine list has been carefully selected to reflect an array of new and old wines and any of our staff will be happy to help you pair a glass of wine with your meal. One of our favourites is a bottle of Prince Hessen H. Riesling. This wonderfully refreshing wine has aromas and flavours of apples and citrus fruit with some floral notes.
